What is an APN?
The acronym APN comes from Access Point Name, and if we want to link our Android device to a 4G/3G or Edge network we need the exclusive settings for each carrier so it can connect and have a data connection on our device. Devices that originally ship with a carrier are “locked” to use only that carrier’s data network. For that same reason, when we unlock them, we need the APN configuration of the carrier we plan to use to get the most out of our device and basically stay connected all day if we want.
That said, now you know what an APN is and what it’s for, so here are the 3 required configurations for Telcel, Iusacell and Movistar in Mexico—just enter the info shown here and leave the remaining fields blank.
To add and set up an APN on your Android / BlackBerry / iPhone you need to locate the Settings (I’ll do a post later with the recent versions of each OS)
