A year ago, the competition among clients for Twitter was just heating up.
Earlier this month, RIM announced the launch of its native Twitter client through invitations to download the BETA version.
On Friday Seesmic released an update to its client, integrating Ping.FM (a company acquired last year by the Seesmic group).
At the beginning of the year, SocialScope announced that they were no longer giving out invitations, as they hoped to surprise their users with a major app overhaul.
So, which client is the best for me?
It’s tough; I write about these three for the following reasons:
SocialScope: In my opinion, the best client. Integration of Facebook updates, PUSH updates, low request overhead, and battery savings. The bad: it’s invitation-only and they haven’t sent any in over six months.
Twitter for BlackBerry: it’s the native client (PUSH updates, official ReTweet, Follow/Unfollow, regional Trending Topics, detailed profile, image preview, and integration with TwitPIC). The downside: it’s a huge battery drain when you refresh manually.
Seesmic: In my view, the fastest at updating tweets. Integration with Ping.FM and support for the official ReTweet. Very noticeable battery savings.
